Event Poster Concept
OVERVIEW
A series of concept posters for a fictional Protocol x Terminal V event, built around the same visual language as the rest of my work, cool lighting, grainy textures, and sci-fi inspired HUD elements coming together to create a futuristic, otherworldly mood.
The brief I set myself: make something that looks like it belongs on a wall in Edinburgh in March, not a stock template with a lineup pasted on top, but a graphic that stands out against everything else on that wall.
INSPIRATION
The main inspirations for this project were, existing promotional content for Klofama’s Protocol Events which features bold typography and HUD styled layouts and the movie Arrival (2016) which features fog-lit forms. Klofama’s posters influenced the layout and technical elements of the concept design, whereas the Arrival influenced the background asset.

I then sourced an image of Klofama online and edited it in Photoshop to create a blurred, white silhouette. After placing it into the background, I created a repeating vertical line pattern using the gradient tool, then used this as a texture in the filter gallery. This pulled the streaks through both the figure and the fog behind it, breaking up the solid white shape and blending it into the background.
FINAL OUTCOME
Using a still from Arrival as a base, I built the background through a mixture of adjustment layers, grainy texture maps, and blending modes. The goal was to keep the shape and scale of the alien form but then add more detail to the fog, so that the form became less recognisable. This created a background that felt more like atmosphere than image.
I then built out the sci-fi inspired HUD layout using shape tools and created my own fictional lineup along with a date, venue and additional event information completing the poster. From there, I experimented with different blending modes on the background to produce a set of colour variants. I also duplicated and re-formatted each version into 1920×1080 resolution so it could be viewed on all social media platforms.
